We are proud to announce a new collaboration between Hackney Spanish and Buen Ayre Restaurant: the launch of the Hackney Spanish and Buen Ayre Book Club this July.
We’ll start with a discussion of two classic short stories by Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges: “Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius” and “La biblioteca de Babel” (The Library of Babe). Widely regarded as two of the most influential works of Latin American literature, these stories explore infinity, memory, imaginary worlds, and the strange relationship between fiction and reality.
The stories are available online and can be read in either English or Spanish. If you can read the originals in Spanish, please do. The session will be coordinated by Argentine writer, translator and lecturer Fernando Sdrigotti. The discussion will take place in a relaxed bilingual format.
The book club is free for students of Hackney Spanish. Non-students are welcome with a small donation.
